1

An Endless Selection of Patterns and Colors

Granite is a stone with naturally occurring variations in color and pattern. These variations should be expected and are the source of its natural beauty.

2

Natural Veining

The veining in granite can affect color perception, and every slab varies somewhat within any color and pattern. A sample can and will likely vary from the actual slabs used in your home.

3

Veins and Fissures

Granite has naturally occurring veins and fissures, which can create weak points in the stone. It may also have natural vein lines that cannot be polished out or removed.

4

Resistant to Scratches and Heat

Regular sealing of granite helps minimize the possibility of any stains, but if they do occur, most can be removed.

Question? Answered

We want you to be completely informed about your new countertop. Here are the questions we get asked most.

Use paper towels, a sponge or a soft cloth for regular cleaning. Avoid harsh products such as bleach, kitchen degreasers and glass cleaners, along with ammonia, vinegar, orange and lemon. Apply sealers yearly, or twice a year with heavy use. Always use cutting boards, hot pads or trivets, and clean spills straight away, because soda, coffee and cooking oils can stain if they are left to sit.

Depending on the color, a 3 cm thick granite slab will weigh about 18 to 20 pounds per square foot.

The Marble Institute of America recommends corbels or brackets for any overhang that exceeds 10 inches. The cantilevered portion must not exceed one third of the total width of the countertop.

Pits are small, natural craters that are present in nearly all granite slabs. It is normal for pits to be present and they do not pose maintenance or durability issues.

A fissure is not a structural defect. It is the result of the great heat and pressure that first naturally formed the granite.

Yes, although most minor cracks and chips can be repaired by a professional using colored epoxies.

The price of stone is affected by a variety of factors including availability, the location of quarries in the world, the rarity of the color, and the amount of labor required to extract the stone.

Fissures are natural elongated openings in stone that result from geological formation. Cracks display noticeable roughness, chipping, separation, movement, fracturing, and obviously broken pieces.
